Travel Theme: Sweet

July 30, 2013 by Patricia Sands

July has been busy! As a true Leo, I’ve loved every minute of all the action, sharing the good news, releases, reviews of other authors and friends as well as my own France Book Tour.

My special writing group, Her Books, pulled our resources together and published a FREE Book Club Picks sampler that features excerpts from some of our newest novels. If your book club is looking for suggestions, you can sample some of the work here first.

Then there was the fabulous RWA National Conference in Atlanta (see the effervescent Tameri Etherton’s equally fabulous post about it – she has photos!), followed by my own birthday celebrations last week ~ time with my family was the best gift of all!

Now it’s time to slow down, catch my breath and get comfy in my cosy writing den as my next book begins to take shape.

One thing that always grounds me is the good karma that wraps around me as I relive memories flipping through my photo albums. Today I’m responding to Ailsa’s Where’s My Backpack Travel Theme “Sweet”.

Monday … how’s it going for you?

July 22, 2013 by Patricia Sands

Happy Monday everyone! I returned to Toronto from Atlanta last evening, after a two-hour delay during which the forces of nature presented a spectacular thunder and lightning/son et lumière exhibition, viewed through the massive windows of the airport terminal.

The RWA2013 National Conference which I attended for 5 days krlqqghzwas a fine experience in every way from the exceptional quality and variety of workshops, discussions, and presentations to the extraordinary camaraderie and networking of approximately 2000 writers, agents, editors and other assorted members. The keynote speaker, Cathy Maxwell, and luncheon awards speaker, Kristan Higgins, offered wisdom and humour as they shared their stories and stirred emotions.

Absolutely unforgettable was the opportunity to meet, in person, writers with whom I have formed close connections online through the past three years. The “WANA sistas” rock and memories were made to last forever!

I returned home inspired and motivated to write, write, write.

Today I am attempting to catch up on last week’s backup while I am at my desk in Toronto … admittedly watching (and dreaming of being there …) the last day of the Tour de France which my DH thoughtfully taped for me.

Thanks to this amazing virtual world. I’m also hanging out on some other websites and hope you have a minute to drop by and visit.

Thanks to everyone who has popped into The Provence Post too. There are a few more days before the draw for the giveaways! If only I could be writing this from there!

I wanted to share this special post from the blog of my friend, Marcia Richards. Now that’s inspiring!

That’s it for me today! What are you up to?

Fresh, juicy, local …

July 19, 2013 by Patricia Sands

If it’s Friday, it must be France …

I’m still in Atlanta, Georgia, at the RWA National Conference with about 2000 other writers, editors, and agents. It’s not quite as good as being in France but it is definitely an unforgettable experience in itself. The workshops, discussions, keynotes, and pitch sessions have been informative and empowering. The networking has been inspiring and filled with unforgettable moments and a multitude of new friendships. To add to this, the “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing session the other afternoon, raised over $53,000 to donate to various literacy programs in the U.S.

Meeting some of my “WANA sistas” in person after two years of connecting through the internet (after bonding in Kristen Lamb’s online blogging course in 2011), has put the finishing touch on this exceptional week.

However, while I am physically in Atlanta, there’s a part of me that is very much settled in Provence this weekend, thanks to the talented Julie Mautner and her brilliant website, The Provence Post. It’s been one of my favourite sites to visit for several years and to find my new novel, The Promise of Provence, featured there right now is such a thrill! If you have a moment, please stop by and join in her giveaway. Click right here and see what the buzz is all about! Leave a comment on Julie’s website and be entered to win a free book. I can’t wait to see who wins!

Bon weekend, tout le monde! What are your plans?
