This week’s photo challenge topic brought an immediate Alhambra moment to my mind, before I saw the fabulous collection of shots from there on the Daily Post Photo Challenge site. Be sure to pop over and enjoy them.
I’m willing to bet that anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting Granada, Spain, has toured this spectacular historic 11thC Moorish marvel. I would also bet it’s likely that the word “intricate” would be associated by most to the visuals that arrest and capture the eye immediately upon entering the grounds. In the gardens or within the structures of the Alhambra, intricacy abounds.
One of the reasons I enjoy photo challenges so much, is because they cause me to spend time lingering in my albums. Pulling out these photos caused me to look at some other images I had captured during the same trip to Spain. I can’t wait to get back there in September! Hola, Ofra! 🙂
I’m hooked on rooftops wherever I go … as you’ve no doubt noticed, if you follow my travels. This shot from my sister-in-law’s rooftop terrace in her Lecrin Valley village (not far from Granada) is a favourite of mine. The more my eye wandered across the rooftops to the landscape in the background, the more the intricacies of the scene called out to me.
What do you think?
And then I thought about the dessert I was served the other evening. That was kind of intricate too … and delicious! I’m blaming the soft focus on the wine … that was delicious too!
What’s your interpretation of “intricate”?
Relax for a while at the Daily Post site and stop by some of the other participating blogs to see an incredible selection of intricate images!
What a treat this was: Your Photos, Your Descriptive Writing, and a new awareness of the beautiful word, Intricate. Your the best! Harts
Opps, You’re the best!
Lol ~ thanks, Harts. I thought of you in Sarlat and your comment “quack, quack”. Looking through my photos from Spain generated a lot of enthusiasm for my upcoming trip there in September. I haven’t been back for a few years, so it’s time. Right now though, it’s all about la belle France and so far the trip has been magnifique. I’m off to explore Biarritz now …
Crazy pretty pictures, Patricia. I feel like I’m there with you (and I wish I was)!
Thanks, Jenny! I’m actually in France right now but that photo challenge took me straight to my Alhambra photos from Spain. It doesn’t get much more intricate than that! I’m going to visit my sister-in-law there in September … along with some other girlfriends. Stay tuned for that! 🙂
Beautiful! Thanks for that momentary respite.
Photo challenges are always a good diversion from writing. I know you can relate to that. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Amazing pictures. Such intricate artwork and architecture. And that’s just the dessert!
Haha ~ great comment, Phil!
