If it’s Friday, it must be France … will be back next week …
As you know, I’m deep in revision world and the work is going well. This afternoon I stepped away for a couple of hours to attend a moving celebration of life for an old friend and wonderful person.
This poem was read by one of her children. I had never heard it before and it touched me deeply so I want to share it with you. When I googled the poem The Dash by Linda Ellis, I discovered there was also a YouTube video. Many of you may well have seen this before but it’s well worth the 2-1/2 minutes to watch again.

Our friend, Karen, spent her dash in the best possible way and this was celebrated with love and joy mingled with sorrow at her passing. It was agreed by everyone there, she would have been humbled and proud today. The legacy she left of her dash certainly caused me to think about mine. Does this poem inspire you to think about what you are doing with yours?
Hi. I’m Nicki, a fellow contributor to Barbara’s travel book. I thought I’d drop by to say ‘hi’ and I am now following your blog. Best Wishes.
Hi Nicki – Nice to meet you. Is the book out yet? I haven’t heard anything lately about it. I’ll pop over to your page too.
It is always timely to be reminded of the things in between, and the people who fall between the cracks and the many who struggle, and if if we are one of them, the message is the same for us all 🙂
Just love that photo and warm smile Patricia, that blue is almost as stunning as you 🙂
Thanks, Claire. I’m definitely reminding myself to make my dash the best it can possibly be! It looks like I will get back to France in 2013 and that will help! Hope to see you then!
Patricia – The all imortant ‘dash’ strikes a chord with me. I see it as a joyful reminder for each of us to unleash our inner power to be our best, do our best, and contribute our best while we are on planet earth. Thanks for sharing.
There’s nothing more important than that dash!
What a beautiful tribute to your friend and poem. I absolutely love that the dash is our life lived on Earth. I try every day to make that dash count. It’s kind of small, wedged between birth and death, but what it encompasses is huge. Thanks for sharing, my sweet friend. I hope revisions are going well and your book will be out SOON!
Revisions going well. Exciting stuff happening. I know you work that dash in the best possible way!
Honestly? I’m not doing enough with my dash. I’m working on it though.
Totsy, trust you always to be honest. We probably all could make the same admission. Keep working on it … I know it will be a unique and mighty fine dash in the end!
