Liquid Lunch interview

November 2, 2010 by Patricia Sands

Well I certainly had fun today! At 1 p.m. I was interviewed by Hugh Reilly and a lovely young woman, Natalie (must find out her last name), on Hugh’s show Liquid Lunch. In a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, we chatted about The Bridge Club and my experience with self-publishing. Of course, the “real” bridge club did come up in conversation several times and they were impressed we were still as tight as ever.

If you haven’t seen any of their programs, check it out on www.thatchannel.com.

I’ll post the video as soon as I receive it.

A Different Drummer Books is stocking The Bridge Club!

November 1, 2010 by Patricia Sands

Happy Hallowe’en! Okay, I’m still waiting for all those wonderful stories about you and your remarkable friends. I know they are out there! I’ve received some on Facebook and will try to link them here. Ha! I know, I know … I can hear you muttering something about me and my links. I promise I’m working on it …

It’s been a busy weekend. On Friday I was honoured to be asked to participate in a reading with the Peel Region branch of the Canadian Federation of Poets. My sincere thanks to Cheryl Antao-Xavier who chairs the meetings for extending the invitation.

Today, I met with Ian Elliot, the owner of A Different Drummer Books and I’m pleased to let you know that The Bridge Club is now available in that respected bookshop. It’s a joy to linger and browse the exemplary selection of books in the wonderful atmosphere there. Be sure to stop and admire the garden on the way in. It truly is a special place.

BFFs stories

October 28, 2010 by Patricia Sands

Alright I’m trying another link and hope it works. If not, simply go to the Globe and Mail Life section and read the 8 Cousins article. Their time together sounds just like my Bridge Club reunions (post #3 – The BC in BC) and I’m sure many of you share the same kind of bonds with a group in your life. You may be young moms, school buddies, or a group that has come together through some common denominator. You may be of a certain age with decades of friendship and memories. If you have a good story, please share it with us here.

I have to go meditate … or something …

October 25, 2010 by Patricia Sands

I mentioned a few posts ago that I might rant about my new experiences in the land of social media. I would do it right now but I can’t … I have to go find a quiet place and meditate or just some place where I can talk out loud to myself and no one will hear me or perhaps a padded room … I’m sure you are getting the picture …

It’s just that I’m feeling Facebooked, Twittered, etc, etc, etc to the point of distraction … really, the list is a mile – well, it feels like it …  it’s loooooooooong and I’m F R U S T R A T E D!!!  I’m sorry the links on my posts aren’t working … I’d really like to know why … and sometime soon I will, I promise. I’ll be able to do it all and I won’t have a meltdown like I am now.

After I finish doing one of the above (or maybe all of them), I’m going to watch the outcome of our beautiful city’s municipal election today and see which of the two terrible choices for mayor won. That should be a calming experience … right?

Really, I’ll be fine and – thankfully – tomorrow is another day. Can’t wait!

Thanks for listening. Namaste.
