If it’s Friday, it must be France …
We live on a magnificent planet. Today and every day we all have an obligation to do our part to help it survive. Today is Earth Day ~ Le Jour de la Terre 2016 … in many parts of the world.
Leaders from 160 countries will officially sign the Paris Climate Agreement which carries with it the hope it will help to stem global warming.
This photo of mine celebrates the land, sea and sky of the stunning Côte d’Azur. It reminds me of my good fortune to be able to spend time there. I know there are countless places in the world of breathtaking beauty … we all have our definitions of that. Think of what part of the world inspires you and share it with us. It might well be your own back yard!
Let’s appreciate the whole of this world and take an Earth Day pledge such as this one shared in children’s classrooms.
Young people are our hope for the future of our planet.
The primary goal for Earth Day this year is tree planting. Join Canada’s #Rooting4Trees campaign by clicking right here.
Earth Day began in 1970 as a day to celebrate the planet and encourage people to be more environmentally friendly. The first Earth Day celebration was held in the US in 1970 after a devastating oil spill. That event is widely regarded as the beginning of the modern environmental movement.
The focus of the day is on planting trees, increasing awareness about recycling, becoming involved in green projects, and reducing energy consumption.
Let’s commit to making every day Earth Day!
A beautiful photo, Patricia, makes one glad to be alive!
This was part of our view for five months while I wrote the first draft of The Promise of Provence. Inspiring!
Happy Earth Day!
Beautiful photo of one of my favorite places in the world. As it happens, I am visiting France for vacation.
That makes two of us, Lori. What part of France will you be visiting?
It’s not hard to celebrate Earth Day with that view! Gorgeous photo! Would love to visit one day.
I hope you do get to visit there, Dorothy. In the meantime, I’m delighted to take you there with my photos and books.
Enjoy the weekend!
Love the pledge! And the title is a great homage to Armstrong’s beautiful song.
Me too! I’m so glad to see they are making this a big issue in schools. What better song than that?
Bon weekend, Evelyne!
Son of a gun, this is so hefplul!
