I didn’t plan it this way, but as it happens I have two different photo journals/essays posted this week on two of my favourite sites: The Good Life France and the LAHE Lifestyle Magazine.
Put your feet up, take a break and go on a little armchair vacay with me.
First, we’re going to the medieval village of Entrevaux, tucked on a rocky crag above the Var River, just an hour’s drive from Nice.
After my husband and I visited this town two years ago, I knew I had to include it in the manuscript I was working on at the time. As a result, Entrevaux is featured in Promises To Keep (Book 2 of the Love In Provence series). In the story, you’ll have a chance to wander it’s narrow alleyways and discover its intriguing history along with meeting a couple of cool new characters.
It’s not a picture perfect charming village such as the ones we love in the Luberon. Rather it is intriguing, mysterious and enigmatic, but beautiful in its own unique way. Discover Entrevaux by clicking right here.
Later this week I’ll post a visit to magical Venice, La Serenissima, so please make a note to come back. I promise you’ll be glad you did! As much as I adore France and spend all the time I possibly can there, I do love to travel for short periods to other places. Venice is one of those places. It is truly a visual feast.
Here’s a taste …
I’ll post the Venice photo journal on Friday. See you then!
What a great idea! I love armchair vacations, as I can no longer take them “physically”. Thanks for all your posts, as they are helping me go to places I love, and dream about being actually — almost — there! Bisous!!!
I hope you enjoy these, Martha. The one on Venice is much longer, more photos. I must say I’m dying to return there. I think I may have Katherine and Philippe go there for a getaway weekend in another book!
Oh, yes – do “send” them to Venice! I am in the early stages of sorting my photos (in boxes now – a few in albums). It will be difficult. I have over a thousand, and some don’t have captions or reminders, so I’ll have to throw them away. And i am still weak, so it will go very slowly… Thanks for the encouragement!
Keep the photos you want, Martha, and have your daughters take them to be scanned and made digital. Then you can enjoy them easily on your computer or tablet.
I’ll try… Not an easy endeavor!
Such gorgeous photographs. Makes me wish I was there! 🙂
Thank you, Edith. One of the things I love about photos is that you can keep returning to them and feel like you are visiting all over again.
PATRICIA, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, FROM A “LANDLOCKED OKIE” YOU CARRY ME AWAY TO THESE BEAUTIFUL PLACES AND I ENJOY THEM SO MUCH. CAN’T WAIT FOR THE BOOK. DO YOU HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET? NO PRESSURE. YOUR FRIEND JOY WOOD
Hi there, Joy! How is your summer going? Now that Amazon has control over the release of I Promise You This, it won’t be until Spring 2016. But it will be worth waiting for … I promise you this, hehe. (Couldn’t resist!)
So beautiful..do you think I’ll ever get there?
Hi Cathy ~ Keep dreaming! You just never know. 🙂
Just bought book 2 for my Kindle. I love the scenery in the first book.
I loved Venice and look forward to the tour.
Patti
Great! The second story is a bit different … stuff happening. I loved writing Book 3 and it will be out in the new year. See you in Venice!
What? That’s it? You’re such a tease.
I’ll see you later this week.

Great! I’ll meet you at Harry’s Bar!
A very evocative piece. Entrevaux does indeed look a place well worth discovering. Onto the list it goes!
Great! I’ll meet you at Harry’s Bar!
Ooops ~ I’m not sure how that comment got repeated. We’ll have a party at Harry’s Bar!
Margaret, I found Entrevaux immensely intriguing even though it’s a small village with very little happening there. I felt such a strong sense of history and will definitely return.
Your pictures make me feel like I am away on vacation!
That’s my hope, Phil! Bon voyage!
