If it’s Friday, it must be France …
Take a stroll with me through some of the back streets of charming Biot … we’ll come back another time for more …
If you are in the south of France, put Biot on your “must visit” list. This medieval village is just twenty minutes up into the hills behind Antibes and celebrated for, among other things, exceptional glass crafts created with their distinctive artisanal bubble glass. It’s possible to watch glassblowing artists in individual studios or the famous Verrerie de Biot. The colours of the glassware are mesmerizing. I bought a set of 8 glasses, each a different colour because I simply couldn’t choose!
See what I mean? Yummy colours!
To read a far more amusing post than I could write, click here and spend a hilarious day in Biot with my friend Carol Perehudoff aka Wandering Carol. Bon weekend!
Oh my goodness, those pictures are just unbelievable. Such antiquity. I can’t imagine being privileged enough to live somewhere like that.
You can understand why I’m so addicted to that part of the world! It’s all so beautiful ~ everything in its own distinct way.
So ni-i-i-i-ce!
Merci-i-i-i-i-i 🙂
Well. I must you paid me a major compliment, much undeserved. Reading over my post on Biot, all I can do is think of what I could have done better. Your photos are fantastic as usual, and if memory serves me correctly it was a post on the pots of Biot that introduced me to your blog in the first place! Wasn’t it?
I also have a “walking to Biot” story to tell you … in a little silk outfit and strappy sandals in 30Celsius, after my husband assured me the train station was in the village! Ha! And it was Sunday so the bus was nowhere in sight. That was the first of our many visits there (never again walking!) and a few years ago we rented a house just outside the village for three months. Many delicious meals at Le Jarrier!
Now that you remind me we connected over a post about Biot, I love the place even more! <3
Your photos are simply breathtaking. What is it about French towns and those magnificent winding walkways..? They’re in every place I have been in Provence. I am so enamoured that I could doddle there forever….or better yet…let me be that cat!
Thanks, Liane! We obviously share the same feelings about these villages in France … and … yes, that cat …
Voilà un autre endroit à inscrire sur ma liste pour septembre. Merci Patricia pour vos belles suggestions!
De rien! J’ai vu à ce moment Les Carnets de Miss Diane … magnifique!
Amazing pictures! I also love that relaxed cat. I can see why you are so enamoured.
Darlene, I bet you have some equally beautiful photos from Spain. Have I been missing them? Must check! Speaking of which, will you be there in September?
The work done at the verrerie de Biot is gorgeous. I would also have a hard time to choose a color among these glasses. The town is as gorgeous and your photos give full credit to this very special town.
Evelyne, you obviously know Biot well and I agree it is a very special town. I love the glassware and use mine all the time.
