WARM WISHES TO ALL CANADIANS CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING!
The unique beauty of autumn adds to the magic of this special holiday.
We are celebrating my favourite holiday in Canada this weekend – Thanksgiving. No shopping for anything but Thanksgiving dinner ingredients. No lists of gifts. Bags of food being filled for the Food Banks. Volunteers serving turkey dinners at homeless shelters. Quality time spent as families and friends gather to share memories, love and laughter. An attitude of gratitude prevails. I am so thankful for the life I have. I hope you feel the same about yours.
As we consider our individual blessings, let’s remember those who struggle with hunger, illness, poverty, war and a multitude of other challenges around the globe. Let’s try to make the sentiments of Thanksgiving a part of every single day.
What a good feeling to see the food donation bins overflowing today. If you can’t get out to help, here’s a way you can play a part without leaving home! Click right here.
I’ve written about these sites before, but they are always worth mentioning from time to time. All you have to do is go to TheHungerSite.com once a day and click on the button — sponsors give free food. You are not put on any list or bombarded with spam. There are other links to click where sponsors donate for appropriate benefits: Breast Cancer ~ remember it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; Child Health; Literacy; Rainforest; Animal Rescue and a few others. All of this has been verified as legit by Snopes years ago. I pop in every day. Why not?
While we are at it, have you ever played FREERICE.COM? ~ A great way to increase your vocabulary and donate rice. Play it with your children as there are 60 levels. It’s a great place to learn new words for Words With Friends … ahem, my addiction!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well Patricia!
Thanks very much, Darlene. We are enjoying lovely autumn weather too, which makes it even better!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Patricia. Our Thanksgiving is very much like yours, here in the USA, only later next month. Like you I love this holiday, which is all about giving and appreciating the life we got. When we are fortunate to have enough it is a good feeling to share with anyone who has less. Your photos are lovely and make it very special for a special holiday.
Thank you, Evelyne. I feel fortunate to be able to celebrate both the Canadian and American Thanksgivings since we are usually in Florida for the latter. How are things going with the publishing of your book? I’m looking forward to the update and will be happy to write about it here. Keep me posted!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and family Patricia. Love the photos. Thank you…..and loved “Promises to keep”. Looking forward to the next book.
Despina, you are so thoughtful! I wish the same for you and your family. I am still amazed at you taking the time to join our crazy release party from Greece! I trust you had a wonderful holiday and visit there.
I’m always proud and thankful to be a Canadian.
I have to say I feel the same, Anneli. Although, I am truly in love with the south of France and also feel fortunate to enjoy the benefits of the beautiful Florida weather in the midst of winter. Travel is definitely amongst the blessings I count.
Here in Minnesota, it looks very similar to where you are in Canada – gorgeous trees of different colors, cooler temps with bright sunshine, the smell of Fall in the air! My French friends were here in early September and were waiting for the change of colors – but were a little early. They then went up to stay in Quebec for two weeks, and said they had a beautiful Indian Summer there. We have our Thanksgiving next month and have so much to be thankful for this year, also! Have a wonderful holiday and thanks so much your books and blogs!
Our daughter-in-law is from Minnesota! It sounds like your friends from France had a lovely trip and I’m glad to hear they got to experience Indian Summer. These days you can never be sure whether it will happen or not. I’ll be in Florida for your U.S. Thanksgiving so I’ll get to do this all over again. 🙂
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and for your good wishes!
Great links, great reminder for ongoing giving and support and GREAT pictures Patricia. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all those you love.
I wish the same to you and yours. Are you longing for France or are you happily settled “home” with wonderful memories that will last forever?
Well, Freerice is great fun, though with the added dimension of American English to contend with. Your suggestions are all great ones. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all those close to you.
Thanks so much, Margaret. I am thoroughly enjoying your posts from England!
Warmest Thanksgiving wishes to you and yours too!
Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends to the North!
Thanks, Phil! Now I have a little more than a month to recover before we celebrate this special day all over again with you guys south of the border!
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving, Pat!
Thanks, Susie. It was a perfect Thanksgiving weekend in every way!
The info autofilled this time. Yay!
Yay! Problem solved! 🙂
Patricia, your images are always so inspiring on their own.
Thanks so much, Brenda. I find my camera is often far more effective than my words … unlike you! Every post you write is rich with imagery.
