Ailsa of Where’s My Backpack chose one of my favourite words as her travel theme photo challenge this week. If travel and photography are as important to you as they are to me, you should be following her website too! As well as enjoying Ailsa’s excellent photos, you can visit the photo links in the comments section to experience an incredible variety of visual feasts.
When author Susan Sommers and I are invited to speak with groups, we begin by encouraging people to become possibilitarians. Don’t you love that word? No matter what life throws in our paths, there are always possibilities to explore and embrace. Don’t let anything hold you back!
Here are a few of my travel photos … um, needless to say they are from France … that represent, to me, the opportunity for possibilities just around the corner or up the hill or down a path. Wherever you are headed and however you may be traveling, let the possibilities lead you on!
“I see the road ahead is turning. I wonder what’s around the bend?” Charles Kuralt

Do travel possibilities intrigue and lead you on to new discoveries? Is there one in particular you will never forget? Share your link in the comments so we can all enjoy the experience!
Here are two from Ailsa’s website that really caught my attention:

I love the photos of France, Patricia. I dream of relocating there one day. That’s a great word too – possibilitarian. I’m definitely one of those. Here’s to all the new possibilities coming our way this year!! May we take full advantage of them. Happy New Year.
I will toast to that and to the hope that your dream one day is a reality. Never stop dreaming!
Wonderful photos: thank you. Possibilities? It must have been for me my first few days in India. It was there I first began blogging, using a not very good blogging platform, and reliant on internet cafes with ancient equipment and non-English keyboards usually. Uploading photos wasn’t always easy either. Despite having done all my homework, like a good traveller should, it was all about possibilities. This is a link to the first post to which I was able to attach photos. No don’t bother to read it. But the three photos there will show you what a different and exciting world I’d come to. Oh yes, full of possibilities. http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India/Karnataka/Madikeri/blog-221376.html
I can’t think of another country that offers so many unique and colourful photo opportunities than India. Of course, I had to spend an hour reading all your posts from your fabulous trip! What memories you made! I’ve never known anyone who used Couch Surfer before … such an interesting concept!
When it works well, it’s wonderful. A real chance to get to know another culture from the inside. Thanks for making time to look at my first blog. I wish I’d met WordPress then.
I love those stairs in the rocks. Possibly I’ll see them one day and walk up them to who knows where.
Those stairs are part of the hike between Villefranche-Sur-Mer and Nice. I hope you do walk up them one day!
I love the term and the concept. What I like to do when I travel is to sit still for a few minutes and try to imagine what people used to do here (there), what did their houses look like, what kinds of animals did they have, were they farmers, sheep herders, etc. I’ve come up with several book ideas from doing this.
It’s sort of the same thing only in reverse – not what could be, but was used to be.
Thanks for sharing the photos. Makes me anxious to travel.

Travel is a wonderful way to store a wealth of writing prompts. I look forward to reading those book ideas of yours!
Great selection of possibilities!
Your second to last one “I know where this road leads…” made me think of a Trisha Yearwood song…:-) What can I say, I always have music on the brain.

Kitt, I LOVE (a) that you went to the trouble to send me the song and (b) that it is a song inspiring hope. I’ve heard it before but paid more attention to the lyrics today. Thank you for that! It’s raining over on our side today so I went out and had a wee retail therapy session to clear some cobwebs. Now back to the WIP … humming this song …
🙂
I always love your photos from France. I especially love the “story down this lane” photo; I would love to walk down just such a lane in France one day.
Thanks! I especially love that photo too. I took it through a gate one day when I was strolling around the Cap d’Antibes with a friend. That setting was my inspiration for the property Katherine and Philippe are bringing back to life in the The Promise of Provence. I’ll be focusing on it a lot more in this current WIP … fun …
Oh, those lovely pictures!
I’ll be traveling through my memories when I pack our photo albums in preparation for our move to our new home. Whether they’re from my own kitchen or from our travels abroad, they’ll spark smiles. I know it.
You know I’m a “what’s next” kind of gal. I plan to hold ‘Possibilitarian’ in reserve to bumfuzzle my “what’s left” husband. Since he (poor guy — I’d hate to live in his head) worries when he can’t find something to worry about, I’ll throw it into the mix to let him worry about what it means.
Mischief! EEE!
You, Ms. Glorious Gloria, always manage to make mischief out of whatever! How is the packing going?
Thanks for the blog recommend, hoping over there next. As for your photos, well they only make me pine for a trip. I haven’t planned my trips for this year and must do this soon. I need to have something to look forward to. Loved the cruise ship photo (have been on a few and have always loved the ports of call).
Beautiful photographs! My favorite is the stairs – great angle!
Some beatiful landscape and ocean views! Would love to be on that cruise ship!
